Oh how the young lord wished that he was a singer, an artist.

His pilgrimage across mainland Traum had been nothing but fruitful and he wished now above all else to be able to recount the unique beauties he had the pleasure to gaze upon with the eloquence, the words that were appropriate of their majesty. Kosm Ebrietas was a man born into a soldier's life and in many ways was both stunted and liberated by it. He grew up only focusing on battle, on following orders - as such most of what he did afterwards was but a mimicry, a miming of things he had witnessed and concluded to be the best course of action. Most words that left his maw were directly lifted from those he had seen orated by his father, mouthing them seamlessly until they seemed very much his own, and yet still alien to his tongue. There had been much soul searching since this fated bastard was called upon to take up the mantle of his sire and it had left the Liger empty of answers, more confused and frustrated than ever.

So he left.

Not for good - Kosm was not a man to turn and flee. But Topazus and it's inhabitants practically ran themselves. To be leader was to be a figurehead whom had existed for centuries now, and those who followed did not do so out of necessity or fear, but out of habit. It was an easy way of life back home, but now the game had changed and there was so much more to the world revealed. Where even his friends expressed a disinterest in knowing what lay beyond, Kosm had been stuck by a rapturous need to see.

So he left and Topazus would hardly notice for the time being.

His trek across the land had been near spiritual. Finally he was feeling his weariness now, his loneliness even. These wolves that he had so obsessed about were either sparse or illusive, for he had seen none in all this time. Never once did he consider the idea that his sheer size, alien appearance and languid way of walking about had likely frightened off all beings for miles around.

"It's beautiful," announced the cat to no one in particular and his tones echoing gently. He had never seen a freshwater lake before; Only the pounding endless crests of the ocean and the Sky Pools were his aquatic references. Finding himself at the edge of the lake he took a long breath and just looked. It was a feast for his senses: the dragonflies darting across the glassy surface of the water, the chirping of frogs and the evening song of birds. The sun was setting, causing the waters to grow into vibrant hues of magma yet beyond the trees threw down deep shadows and grew foreboding in the way that brought forth childish nervousness of the unknown. Still he felt at peace here, felt as though he could simply stand here forever and die a happy man having never moved.

Kosm closed his eyes, keen on focusing on the sounds when one hit him in sudden upheaval.

There was a crash of branches and the crunch of loam and mud underfoot. Kosm snapped his eyes open, ears twisting to pinpoint the sounds. Close by. His muscles half coiled as he rolled his head about like an owl. A split second of pure silence and then a baritone bellow thrummed through the lake clearing, vibrating the cat's very bones.

Moments later a small creature split from the forest a couple hundred metres to his right, running as if hell itself were on it's tail. It hit the edge of the water, as if afraid before whirling about in it's distress started sprinting directly in Kosm's direction down the water's edge. Perplexed, the Liger was about to take a step forward when a colossal moose burst out after. Branches and leaves hung off the enraged beast's antlers and it shook it's great crown measuring up where it's victim had gone. Upon seeing it's fleeing prey the moose charged full on.

He had slunk out of Glacium lands while Zira had been busy. Young Icarus had wished to find a gift for her. Perhaps something she had never seen before or just a nice pawful of things. So off the young boy took. Making sure to remember every turn and twist he made. No way in hell was he going to allow himself to get lost again. Especially not from the older woman who had so kindly took him in, and also reminded him of his mother.

Icarus had passed through a fair assortment of places so far. Each almost more breathtaking than the last. But where he ended up, before things went to hell, had taken his breath away. A lovely forrested area he had yet to explore fully. He had remembered how his mother loved lillies and the brightest yellow dandelions, Icarus started to nose around for some. Perhaps Zira would also be a woman with a soft spot for flowers. With a tongue hanging loosely out of his mouth and a tail swaying behind his younger form it was apparent that Icarus had no concern for the world around him. This place had been as peaceful as the woods he had met Zira in.

Despite passing the occasional wildlife follage he was having no luck in finding what he wished to find. Realizing he might have to settle for something else the young boy raised his head up. Bright eyes rolling over the land in front of him. There had to be something here that would suit as a proper gift. Weaving through the trees his ears perked up at the sound of something or someone else. Yet he paused to ponder, what could be so big to be making such loud noises? Was that a bellowing howl, a snort even? Never once had Icarus heard a sound be made. While his father and mother had told him stories of all the great big beast that lived there he never had a one on one incounter. What if it was injured though? Lowering his body and moving to find it he saw it. But what exactly was it? Such huge branches growing out of its head, freakishly tall, stilt like legs. The thing must have been a diseased creature! With great fear in his voice Icarus made a terribly mistake, calling out to the creature.

"Hey! Are you alright?!"

More of those godawful sounds! This time the massive creature swung his great head in Icarus's direction. Pulling his ears back he prepared for the worst. "I can let ya-" Before evening finishing his sentence the thing was coming at him! With a screeching howl he turned and ran as fast as he could. He had just offered help, why was it chasing him?! Looking for a safe open path to sprint through, which had been an awful mistake, Icarus took off. Not daring to look back just yet. The loud thudding of the beast behind him had the boy panting for air and pushing himself to go faster. There was a open area ahead! Oh bless anyone who possibly lived above!

There was water and for a moment wondered if he should submerge himself in it. But with no time he quickly checked behind him and kept going. With a loud yelp he realized not only was that horrendous creature chasing him, there was another large figure in front of him. Why was it just standing there? Didn't it see the sickly creature behind Icarus? Deciding that best case scenerio was he'd get help and worst case he was gobbled up by both of them, the young boy opened his mouth and screamed with any extra air in his lungs. "HELP! IT'S CHASING ME!" Still not stopping Icarus could feel himself growing tired. Something had to give.

Kosm felt an age-old instinctive call to action reverberate through every fibre of his being. Perplexed and even amused as he was by the site of frantically fleeing creature, he had always been one thing first, and that was a warrior.

He remembered back to his harsh training, valuable lessons that had been hammered into him as a chisel might notch etchings into stone: Courage, honour, patience, sacrifice. The all-seeing eye of Daiymo had stripped him of his former trappings so that he could be built up anew, as a warrior and a protector. Back then, Kosm had not been an Ebrietas, he had only been a Kosm, a Samurai, and things had been simpler when he thought back on it. But he was a leader now and leaders protected all, not just their own. Before him was another in need and by his teachings it was dictated that it was Kosm's born and bred duty to aid them, and so he would.

The wolfling screeched out something but the liger was already sizing up the situation.

He dug his toes deep into the soft earth, bracing his haunches and drawing his great crown high above his shoulders. That sinuous tail lashed to and fro in agitation, almost seeming to take up a mind of it's own as muscles corded ready through his chest and flanks. The wolfling sprung passed him, fast as you'd like, his paws barely touched the earth and yet he managed to kick up a hell of a spray, as Kosm had to shake his muzzle deftly to rid himself of a few loamy clumps that had clung to his jowls.

The moose, a hefty bull - so fixated on turning Icarus into a fuzzy pancake - took about as much notice to the motionless Liger that was all but barring it's path. It was as if he were just another part of the landscape that the monster meant to plow on merrily through.

That was until the liger pressed off with his forepaws, drawing himself onto his hindlegs in such an awesome sight that the moose had no option but to pay attention now. Kosm's creamy hued chest and underbelly was bared to the beast, yet his massive forelimbs - held out in what seemed like a welcoming hug - were the equivalent to steel-spiked maces with their heavy paws and claw tipped digits. His short, normally boorish face had screwed up into an ugly snarl that drew his lips back from his enormous fangs. Kosm pressed his ears back against his noble brow and let fly a titanic roar. It echoed to all sides of the still pond, blended with the now panicked honking of the bull moose who was making an untimely attempt to halt his hasty charge.

Too late.

One gigantic body slipped into the other with a meaty CRUNCH.

While Kosm had been ready, the moose had been not. The Liger drew the big bovid into an emmense bearhug, digging his claws mercilessly deep into the thick flesh of it's neck whilst summarily avoiding the deadly thrashing of it's antlers. His hind paws dug deep into the muck as his body drank in the blow, channeling and refocusing it. He lifted his right hind paw now and his entire body pivoted, his left paw giving the moose a hardy swinging smack to the side of the head and neck that and so the moose seemed to carry on through and went crashing inelegantly onto it's side with defeated bleating sound. Kosm lowered to all fours with ease and turned to watch the other giant struggling to gain it's lanky footing, giving it another surely snarl at which the moose, swinging it's head in frustration limped loudly back into the forest.

The adrenaline was still on the young cat though the battle had long ended and he could not help slinging insults to the bull moose's pride at his rapidly dwindling back. "Aye, g'wan with you, bark-breath or I'll give you another! You look like your mother let a tree have it's way with her." His whiskers were almost vibrating with energy, and his words were far from couth as a leader.. But at least nobody was there to tell him off for it.

Except the other creature! He had almost forgotten. Kosm's keen feline eyes plucked through the darkness of the treeline and easily saw it's trembling form. "It's okay to come out now, you know."

He watched it all unfold before him. The forest monster crashing with the shoreline beast. A god awful snap was heard and Icarus squeeze his eyes tight. He did not wish to see which beast had tamed the other and what it would look like. The sounds were enough to let young Icarus know there was a many battle on the other side of his tree. It wasn't till a sound that wreaked of defeat was made that bright blue eyes peeked out from the tree. Icarus had no idea that he was so obviously shaking in his fur.

Watching as the shoreline creature claimed victory, the young lad wondered if he should run now. Save himself from the same shivering defeat the forest monster met. But when his unexpected company told him to come out Icarus tucked tail and moved low enough to the ground his stomach was collecting leaves and dirt. A soft whine emitted from his throat and blue eyes focused on dangerous paws. Was he going to die? Would his family nor Glacium ever hear from him again? He figured if he got this far though that neither of them would truly miss him.

"Th-thank you." His voice so airy and weak. He truly was a defenseless child in this moment. No sort of previous training or lessons could have prepared him for dealing with such a big strange creature.
